Talk About a Star - Bobby Darin

The door to success is open once more, and stepping through is a young lad who, at nineteen, stands on the threshold of a big career in music. Bobby Darin, attracts large throngs everywhere he appears and has a great number of teenage supporters. Bobby made his musical debut on the Tommy Dorsey TV show in March of '56.

Bobby has clicked in nightclubs, theaters, and record hops, due to his given talent of holding an audience's interest from beginning to end. He is a dynamic type singer with plenty of showmanship. Bobby has already become a teenage idol, but his sincere singing appeals to all types of audiences.

Bobby is a New York resident, standing about five feet, nine inches tall. His main interests, besides singing, include carpet golf, flying and boating. As a side hobby he also displays an unusual talent for song-writing. He has already had a couple of big selling songs with Delia and I Wanna Spend Xmas With Elvis. Being so very versatile, Bobby wails out some fine sounds on the bongos, drums, vibes, guitar, and piano.

His current release on the market is making a lot of noise from coast-to-coast. The record on the Atco label is entitled, I Found a Million Dollar Baby, and it's backed with Talk to Me Something. The response to the waxing has been sensational, with the trade papers calling it a "Sleeper of the Week."

The tune, I Found a Million Dollar Baby, written by Fisher and Rose, has taken off in both the "Pop" and Rock 'n' Roll field.

It's always a great thrill to see young talent like Bobby Darin break into the business with such success. Nowadays, with the music field so competitive, it's hard for new talent to make the grade, unless they have an unusual talent or they're as versatile as Bobby. He was thinking the right way when he released his latest record. It has the right style to cash in on the trend of today's market.

Although this is Bobby Darin's first release for Atco, he had previously recorded one record for the Decca people. The tune entitled Dealer in Dreams, started his strong fan folllowing. This too, is important to a star. He realizes this fact and makes it a point to appreciate his fans and those who have aided him in his short but colorful career.

It's the sincere hope of this magazine that Bobby Darin will fulfill the great expectations that his manager, family, friends, critics and fans have for him. He has all the potential of a great star, and if he sticks to his winning ways he can't miss.
